Cadillac Charlie

 with friends...

Jeanette Lee &  Hydred

am l lucky or what... Jeanette Lee bookends

everyone needs more friends like...

Jeanette Lee

I have known Jeanette 19 years... ever since she lived in

Long Beach, Ca.   Many times we practiced at

Hardtimes, Bellflower. Shooting along side Robin Bell,

(Dotson now) Efren Reyes, Jose Perika, Morro,  Luat,

McCreedy, etc...  Wasn't until 1995 at the Bicycle Club

Casino in Bell Gardens, Ca. that l shot in my first major

tournament finishing 23rd out of 32.

l was so disappointed in my play all that l could do was

sit a stare at nothing..I remember J L coming over to me

and reassuring me it happens to everyone...

l had a denim shirt in my lap that l wanted all the female

'pro's' to sign.... well Jeanette took the shirt around to

all the girls and each signed it for me

and it hangs in my trophy case yet today, along with my personally autographed , # 1

in the Jeanette Lee signature cue balls.

1997 l gave Jeanette & George a wedding gift that l had custom made..

Hydred 'dred' Makabali

And Hydred, l met her in 1996 l

 believe,

at a Scripts Medical W/C event in

San Diego, Ca.  We had to play each other in the 'semi' finals. She lost, but it wasn't a happy loss. Hydred left the game, discouraged, playing very little till l contacted her in 1998 to get back into shooting... she wasn't having any of it, l told her she had too much talent for the game not to play..... l sponsored her on three SCWBT pro qualifier tours ... the rest is current history.

i honestly"Charlie,  l didn't know if i would still continue playing pool if it wasn't for your encouragement.  charlie, it really has

been hard... the decision to continue playing was all your doing,

you've built my esteem, you've given me a new perspective on life in which i thought was lost in the novelty of a spinal cord injury .  you've been there since my very first tournaments and even when i wasn't even a "D" player you told me i had something in me and you stuck with me..  l love you. thank you for your support. you are always and truly  one of my greatest and most dearest friends. thank you.  Love, Hydred.
